Join us for “An American Sampler,” a concert of nostalgic and captivating vocal music by American composers and poets. Sara Paar, soprano, and pianist Marcia Eckert are sure to entertain with their performances of Jake Heggie’s Natural Selection – a coming-of-age song cycle, rife with funny and poignant episodes and songs by Connecticut’s Charles Ives, full of his imaginative takes on life in New England and New York City. Come additionally to hear a song cycle about groundbreaking women from all times and places by composer Stefania de Kenessey or to hear the poetry of Kate Light, who wrote whimsical poetry about relationships, the opera Carmen, a mysterious marriage, and an 18th century artist, all set delightfully by composer Alla Borzova.
